My name is Jesse Carraway and at this time, I personally do all the service on the pedals. I have been playing drums, on and off, since the age of 10. After many years off, I started playing actively again around 2002 and usually play around 60 to 70 gigs a year. My main love is instrumental “Surf” music but I have also been very active in the “Rockabilly” scene.
I am an avid collector of vintage drums and typically have around a dozen sets. Gretsch, Slingerland, Rogers, Ludwig of course, with my favorites being English made Premiers from the early 60’s. I enjoy bringing old sets back to life.. repairing and re-wrapping them (when appropriate). I have also designed and built several sets of custom drums, including a cocktail set and a full size nesting kit, from scratch using bare Keller shells .
Always in search of the perfect kick pedal, I have spent a great deal of money and time trying out many of the different choices on the market.. from Rogers Swiv-O-Matic to Camco, Ludwig Ghost, Tama King Beat, DW 5000 and 9000, Iron Cobra, Yamaha, Pearl Eliminator, Axis and Trick. Some were OK and some not but nothing to me has matched the simplicity and action of a Speed King.
I am what you would call a gear head and motor head being into motorcycles and hot rods as well. I have a very well equipped workshop with a large compressor, blast cabinet, powder coat facility, and other equipment that allow me to service Speed King pedals in a manner that is not possible in most home shops.
